CHCS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM RANKED 4TH
IN
STATE AT ALL LEVELS
In its third year of competition the College
Heights Christian School’s cross country teams have established
a reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the state of
Missouri. Following the running of the Missouri Southern Stampede
earlier this month, in which both the boys and girls came away as
Division II champions, the team was dubbed a “powerhouse” by
mo.milesplit.us.com, the premier online running forum for the state
of Missouri. Freshman Caleb Hoover (15:49) and senior
Ethan Beaver (15:51) hold the 7th and 8th
fastest times in the state for 5000 meters for all MSHSAA
class divisions. The other runners rounding out the top 5 for CHCS,
sophomore Josh Carter, junior Alan Good, and freshman
Trenton Morris have all clocked times of 17:00 or faster to
place them in the elite runner’s category as well. With all of its
scoring runners on the elite list, The CHCS boys team is currently
ranked 4th in the state of Missouri out of all MSHSAA
classes. Last year at the state meet the boys team placed just
outside the trophies with 5th place but look to be well
on their way to a place on the podium at state this year.
The Missouri Southern Stampede champion for the girls was junior
Emily Beaver at 19:02 giving her the 12th fastest
time in the state this year. Senior teammate Lacie Sparlin
was 2nd in 19:50 giving her a state rank of 43rd.
The CHCS girls team has placed 2nd at the state meet both
years they have competed and look on course to place as well or
better again this year with freshmen Beth Good, junior
Carly Cole, freshman Laura Szczepanik, and junior
Rachel Calandro
filling out the roster.
Foot note: The College Heights boys team won
the Class 3-4 division at the Nixa invitational on Tuesday September
18, 2007 defeating a field of 14 class 3-4 teams. The girls won the
Class 1-2 division defeating a field of 16 teams with a phenomenal
score of 24.
