Missions Week
March 9 – 13, 2009

College Heights Christian School will celebrate their annual Missions Week from March 9 -13, 2009.  This week is dedicated to serving others.

The group originally scheduled to travel to Juarez, Mexico had to change their plans due to the advice of the United States government, as this area is under attack and the situation would be too dangerous for students. Students were disappointed as College Heights Christian School has traveled to Juarez the last five years to do mission work.  This group is excited to instead travel to Red Bird Mission Work Camp in Beverly, Kentucky.  They will provide home repair for low-income community residents.

Students will canvas the community of Joplin to serve at Crosslines, Spring River Christian Village, Neighborhood Lifehouse in North Joplin, Watered Gardens, and a special Hispanic and Homebound Outreach.

The students are divided into groups with a teacher/staff supervisor.  Their job is to serve the people and help the organization in any way they are needed.

The Camp Barnabas group will travel to their camp outside of Purdy to help get the Camp ready for campers this spring and summer. Another group will travel to Cookson Hills Christian Children’s Home in Kansas, Oklahoma.

The best times to join us for photo opportunities would be 1) any time Tuesday or Thursday morning at Camp Barnabas, or 2) Monday – Friday during the school day at Crosslines.  Alternative days and times are available at other locations by calling, as the students are serving the entire week.
