COMMENDED STUDENT IN THE 2009 NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLAR PROGRAM
College Heights Christian School announced that Senior Emily Beaver
has been named a Commended Student in the 2009 National Merit
Scholarship Program. She placed among the top five percent of more
than 1.5 million students who took the Preliminary SAT/National
Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“Miss Beaver is a scholastically talented senior and is recognized
for her exceptional academic potential,” commented a spokesperson
for National Merit Scholarship Corporation. “Our nation’s pursuit of
educational excellence can be furthered by publicly honoring
outstanding students like Emily and by acknowledging the important
role schools like College Heights Christian School play in fostering
their development.”
Emily Beaver is the daughter of Douglas and Nina Beaver of Diamond.
College Heights Christian School was started in 1978 with
approximately 80 students. Today, CHCS has grown to nearly 600
students per year, set in a 140,000 square foot facility that
includes 41 classrooms, representing 90 different churches in the
4-State area with nearly 700 total graduates over the past 30 years.
Both elementary and secondary programs are accredited by North
Central Association (NCA). CHCS participates in MSHSAA Athletics,
Academics and Fine Arts.
